This means that you have to pay to access the data, or that you can download the data for free, but you are legally restricted in terms of where and how you can use them. Some data is available free of charge from government agencies. More and more, you can also find data that has been uploaded by volunteers around the world using a \u00ab\u00a0creative commons\u00a0\u00bb license. The most popular example of this type of data is OpenStreetMap.
