In this third chapter, we’ll look at two topics:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first is an option that exists for vector layers: feature EXTRUSION.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Secondly, we’ll look at how to create profiles from point clouds, in particular LIDAR data.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

<\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The data required for this tutorial is <a href=\"https:\/\/nasca.ovh\/downloads\/tuto_elev_prof_data.zip\" title=\"available here\">available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vector layer extrusion<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Vector layers of entities other than those used for profile construction appear in profiles as points, in the case of point or line layers, or as lines in the case of polygons. This representation is consistent with the notion of intersection between these types of layers and a profile line. To do this, in the Properties window, set \u00ab\u00a0<strong><em>Fixed to terrain<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u00bb in Elevation lock and assign the field \u00ab\u00a0<strong><em>Minimal_ground_altitude<\/em><\/strong>\u00ab\u00a0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a building polygons, which have X and Y dimensions, Lidar points have virtually no dimensions. It is therefore highly unlikely that our line will intersect any cloud points exactly. The extension uses a parameter called TOLERANCE to define a window size to the left and right of our profile line.
