In a second stage (the next\narticle) we will discuss how to perform the\naggregation of two fuzzy criteria with another command, which we will put at\nyour disposal as well. \n\nAs\nwe have seen in the examples discussed in previous articles, the first step to\nprocess the information as fuzzy is to transform the values of a classic attribute into a fuzzy number: \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n The core<\/strong>\nis the set of elements\nthat wholly belong to the criterion, that is to say,\nthe degree of membership is worth 1. At the bottom of this page you will find the links to download an\nArcMap command to create a new attribute, from an existing attribute, and meeting the\ncriteria of a fuzzy number. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The<\/strong> command<\/strong> Fuzzy Criterion<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n A criterion is a numeric field of a\nlayer belonging to a\nclass of entities. The\ncontent of this field will be transformed in\nanother field, numerical too, but depicting values between 0 and\n1. This transformation is carried out to match\nthe values of the original field with a degree of satisfaction of the\ncriterion: 1 corresponds to total satisfaction, 0 to total dissatisfaction, the others values\nbeing partial satisfactions. \n\nOnce\nthe command is installed, the button \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n displays the following interface:<\/p>\n\n\n\n The command works on\nshapefiles (shapefiles) and geodatabases files. It\ndoes<\/strong> not<\/strong> work<\/strong> on personal<\/strong> geodatabases<\/strong> (.<\/strong>\nMdb),<\/strong> the Enterprise<\/strong> geodatabases,<\/strong> and SpatiaLite<\/strong>\nbases. This is\ndue to the fact that the command writes a metadata file\nin the layer Workspace . This is possible with\nshapefiles and geodatabases file (directory. gdb). There is no integrated protection in the command! If you try to\nwork with a personal geodatabase, it will work\n… until crashing! (sorry …). <\/p>\n\n\n\n Transformation<\/strong>\nmethods<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n The window proposes five transformations of a field with\nfuzzy criterion (fuzzy\nnumber): Type<\/strong>1<\/strong>: The first corresponds, in fact, to a non-fuzzy\nnumber, but allows the aggregation of a non-fuzzy criterion with fuzzy criteria.\n Type<\/strong>2<\/strong>: The second allows to define a fuzzy number where only an exact value (\u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb) delivers full satisfaction. Values below \u201ca:\u201d and above \u00ab\u00a0c:\u00a0\u00bb will have zero satisfaction, while values between \u00ab\u00a0a:\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb and between \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0c:\u00a0\u00bb will correspond to values between 0 and 1. These values correspond to the value of the curve. This corresponds to an exact number with a given uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Type<\/strong>3<\/strong>: The third allows establishing a fuzzy \u201cthreshold \u201c. All values below \u00a0\u00bb a: \u00a0\u00bb will be zero, all values above \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb will be equal to 1, while the values between \u00ab\u00a0a:\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb will have values between 0 and 1. This corresponds to the larger set than the set with a given uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Type<\/strong>4<\/strong>: The fourth is a reversed threshold. All values below \u00ab\u00a0a:\u00a0\u00bb will be equal to 1, all the values above \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb will be null , while the values between \u00ab\u00a0a:\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb will have values between 0 and 1. This corresponds to a smaller set than the set including some uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Type<\/strong>5<\/strong>: The fifth method allows creating a classic fuzzy criterion. The range of values between \u00ab\u00a0b:\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0c:\u00a0\u00bb delivers total satisfaction and have a value equal to 1. Select the fuzzy_numberV92_103ML.dll file that you will have, beforehand, copied in a permanent directory of your local disk WITH the Text.mdb file delivered in same time. This file contains the different language versions used. It\u2019s not very elegant, but it allows the command to operate without special adaptation with Xp , Vista, W7 and w8.
