The Local Integration and Application Network (IAN: Integration and\nApplication Network) is a group of scientists whose goal is the study and solution\nof environmental issues . IAN is an initiative of the Center for Environmental\nScience-University of Maryland. Its mission is to inspire, manage and produce reports\nand evaluations in a timely manner on environmental key issues, with particular\nemphasis on the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. IAN is a network that\nincludes different US agencies and institutions.

How to download<\/strong> symbol<\/strong> libraries<\/strong> \n\nThe library contains currently 2782 symbols,\ngrouped by categories. You must choose the format to be downloaded. There are three possibilities: svg, adobe illustrator and png . The two first are vector formats and the last one is a raster format. \n\n\n\nWe are going to discuss how to recover svg symbols\n(besides they are directly usable with QGis) which have the advantage of being vector\nsymbols and do not have the disadvantages of raster symbols. How to turn <\/strong> svg<\/strong> files<\/strong> into<\/strong> emf<\/strong> :<\/strong> Inkscape<\/strong> \n\nSince svg files are not readable by ArcGis we\nmust turn them into a readable format . The only format that can be used directly by ArcGis is the raster. png . But , it is recommended to avoid raster symbols since: <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\nTherefore, choose your libraries and the option \u00ab\u00a0SVG (vector)\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0Individual:\nsingle files in folders\u00a0\u00bb.
