To continue getting familiar with ArcGIS Pro, in\nthis article we will discuss how the Model Builder\nis introduced in the new interface. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will consider an example quite\nsimple: With the INSEE (200m) statistical rectangles data, we will\ncreate\nbuffer zones around a site every 500m. \n\nBasic data is presented as follows:\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The star indicates the site location,\nthe squares correspond to the population Insee ( downloadable\non the INSEE website<\/a> ) data. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where<\/strong> can you find<\/strong> Model Builder?<\/strong>\n\n\nYou will find the Model Builder button\nin the ANALYSIS tab of the ribbon :  \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe\nribbon changes to show Model Builder’s control buttons and a new view is added\n: Model  \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From here , you will\nwork quite similarly as you have, already, done with ArcMap.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to create<\/strong> the<\/strong> model<\/strong>\n\n\nIn the geoprocessing window ,\nclick-move the chosen\ntool , towards the Model view. \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To add a data source , as always\nyou will click and drag the data source of the legend window\nto\nthe model window. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What changes: how to\nconnect<\/strong> the<\/strong> model<\/strong> elements<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compared to the ArcMap Model Builder , where you\nhave\na Selection tool and a Connection tool, here you\nhave\na single SELECT button.
\nIf\nyou click and release on an item, you select it.\n
\nIf\nyou click and move the mouse to\nanother item, you connect them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to add an<\/strong> iterator<\/strong>\n\n\nTo add the iterator that will allow\nus to calculate the different buffer sizes , click the\nIterators button on the ribbon . Select the\nFOR iterator .   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once filled and closed , the\niterator depicts a colour , so it is ready for use .\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By clicking and dragging VALUE to\nthe\nBuffer tool , the login window opens . Select \u00ab\u00a0Distance\u00a0\u00bb\nto indicate that it is this parameter\nthat\nwill be provided by the For Loop. \n\nThe model is almost\nready. It remains to modify the output name of the Buffer\ncommand file so that each iteration produces\na separated file.   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We use the online replacement variable: In the output\nfile name we add VALUE surrounded by characters ‘%’.\nWhen running the model , this chain\nis\nreplaced\nby\nthe current value of VALUE. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to execute the<\/strong>\nmodel<\/strong>\n\n\nTo run the model just click on the RUN button\ntape. A tracking window\nopens\n:   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to save the\nmodel<\/strong>\n\nThis is easier than when\nusing ArcMap. Each\nArcGis\nPro project has a default toolbox vacuum.\nIf\nyou click SAVE in the ribbon , your model\nis\nsaved\ndirectly\nin\nthis\ntoolbox.\n
\nIf\nyou want to save in\na\nspecific Toolkit , click SAVE AS\n \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Point to the desired box. \n\nLastly, we click on the MAP\nview and load the layers produced by the model:\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
