How to record and reopen three-dimensional models<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By using the \u00ab\u00a0Save \/ Open\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/strong> panel you can save\nand reopen dimensional models in the current document. To save the current\ndimensional model, enter a name in the text box and click the \u00ab\u00a0Save\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/strong>\nbutton . Be sure to save the document (.mxd) before closing ArcMap. Templates\nare saved in the .mxd file<\/strong> . To re-open a saved dimensional model, simply\nselect it from the list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

How to modify three-dimensional models<\/strong> \n\nThe buttons of the \u00ab\u00a0Edit\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/strong>\npanel allow you controlling the dimensional values \u200b\u200bthat appear in the cursors.\nTherefore, you can define the start and end values \u200b\u200bof a dimension and remove\nand \/ or   restore the selected dimension values. The buttons are only\nactivated when the conditions are adequate. For example, the \u00ab\u00a0Start\n= Current<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0\u00bb button is disabled when the cursor is placed on the\nminimum dimension value (start and value   current are already the same).   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Start = current:<\/em><\/strong> sets the start value of the\ncursor at its current position
\nEnd = current:<\/em><\/strong> sets the value of the cursor at its current\nposition
\nStart = Min:<\/em><\/strong> sets the start value of the cursor to the minimum\nvalue in the layer
\nEnd = Max<\/em><\/strong> : sets the end value of the slider to the maximum value\nin the layer
\nRemove value:<\/em><\/strong> excludes the current value of the cursor and\nadvances the cursor to the next value
\nRestore Value:<\/em><\/strong> restores the last excluded value of the cursor <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time settings<\/strong>
\nThe\n\u00ab\u00a0Time\u00a0\u00bb panel contains the parameters of the time dimension.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Display\nFormat:<\/em><\/strong>\nThis parameter defines the display format of the date \/ time in the navigation\nwindow. Choose a display format from the list provided.
Time Window:<\/em><\/strong> This parameter defines the time range of the\ndisplayed data, relative to the current cursor position. If the time window is larger\nthan the spacing between two divisions of the cursor, all the time steps\nincluded in this time window are displayed simultaneously.
\nThe extent of the time window is displayed on the cursor control as a blue bar\nunder the cursor.  \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cumulative:<\/em><\/strong> This parameter forces the display of all time\nsteps between the start of the cursor and the current position. \n\nThe time dimension cursor includes a \u00ab\u00a0full\ntime extent\u00a0\u00bb button to adjust the display over all time steps of the\nlayer.When this box is checked, the map will display all the data included in\nthe entire temporal dimension.   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To display only the data at the current cursor position, set the units\nin the Time Setting window to \u00ab\u00a0None\u00a0\u00bb.
\nTime Update Mode<\/em><\/strong> : This setting controls how the time data displayed\non the map is read by the data source when you move the cursor. This option is\nenabled only for temporal mosaic datasets   and imaging services.
\n\u00ab\u00a0Time Definition\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/strong> is the default mode. When this mode\nis selected, the Dimension Explorer cursorr controls the \u00ab\u00a0Time\u00a0\u00bb\nparameter of the map display:
\no All activated time layers in the map respond according to the cursor of\nDimension Explorer.
\no The maximum time resolution is 1 second.
\no The entire display of the visible map is refreshed when the time is updated. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s exactly the same as the classic ArcMap time cursor.
\n\u00ab\u00a0Lock raster\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/strong> provides a more precise mode of time\nbrowsing for temporal mosaics and imaging services. This mode works by applying\nthe \u00ab\u00a0Lock on Raster\u00a0\u00bb mosaic method to the selected layer. When this\nmode is active:
\no Only the selected layer responds to the Dimension Explorer cursor command.
\no The maximum temporal resolution is one millisecond.
\no The map will only display data that corresponds to the defined spatial filter\nwhen the dimensional model was built.
\no The map view is refreshed only on the current imagery \/ frame envelope when\nnavigating with the Dimension Explorer cursor.
\no The setting of the map time display is set to the full time dimension\nmeasurement. Therefore, if the map contains other temporal layers,   all\ntheir data will be displayed simultaneously.
\nNote that the \u00ab\u00a0Lock Raster<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0\u00bb mode is enabled only under\nthe following conditions:
\no The dimensional model was built from a temporal layer, a temporal mosaic or\nan image service.
\no The map layer is defined with a projected coordinate system.
\no The system of the card layer and the map (data block) are the same. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading settings<\/strong> \n\nThe settings in the \u00ab\u00a0Playback\u00a0\u00bb panel\ncontrol the behaviour of the animation when you use the buttons   \u00ab\u00a0Play\nForward\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0Play Reverse\u00a0\u00bb on the cursors in the navigation\nwindow\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u00ab\u00a0Play rate\u00a0\u00bb parameter sets the time in milliseconds\nbetween the last refresh of the map and the next time the cursor is switched on.\nThe default value is 500 milliseconds. When \u00ab\u00a0Turn repeat on\u00a0\u00bb is\nchecked, the animation will restart in a loop, from the beginning when it\nreaches the end. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to export<\/strong>\n\nWith the \u00ab\u00a0Export\u00a0\u00bb panel you can export\nthe visible map either as a single image or as a series of images. These images\ncan be used to create video animations using free programs such as ffmpeg and\nMovie Maker (included in Windows Essentials). The exported images are stored in\na folder with the same name as the layer under \u00ab\u00a0My Documents \\ Dimension\nExplorer.\u00a0\u00bb These settings allows you to control the image output format,\ncompression quality, scale of the image. map, and the size (rows and columns)\nof the exported image (s).
\nIf you have multiple monitors, make sure that the main ArcMap application\nwindow is fully positioned in only one of them while exporting the images.   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
