Although R is essentially a set\nof statisticals, its use has been extended to a number of\nareas, such as natural language processing. This\nlibrary\npossesses\nalso\nsolic tools of spatial analysis,\nincluding analysis of the distributions of points and the Bayesian\ngeostatical modelling. It is possible to read and manage a\nvariety\nof vector and raster data, including shapefiles, NetCDF and GDAL.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Traditional GIS programs often\nhave\nbeen limited by   their spatial statistics and their analytical capacity were relatively\nminor\n, including a small range of integrated\nfunctions, forcing users to use other platforms for advanced analysis,\nmodelling and simulation. ESRI made the\nacquisition of the MapStudio program from the University of Minsk, which from  2001 has become the Geostatistical Analyst\nextension of ArcGis . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With R, many popular statistical proceedings\nand\nmore advanced analyses, including a variety\nof simulation applications , can be\napplied\ndirectly\nin\ntools such as QGIS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to install R for QGis.<\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No need to rush to the QGis processing\npanel to find R. It is not part of the processing providers included\nwith the QGis installation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have to download\nand\ninstall R on your computer before configuring QGis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is the link to download R: https:\/\/cran.r-project.org\/bin\/windows\/base\/<\/a>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once downloaded , double click on\nthe file R-3.3.2-win.exe<\/em><\/strong> to\ninstall R on your computer<\/em><\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program installs R in the directory C:\n\\ Program Files \\ R \\ R-3.3.2<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to configure the<\/strong>\nQGis<\/strong>\nProcessing<\/strong>\nOptions<\/strong>\n\n\nTo configure R<\/strong> , open the window\nOptions\ntreatments (treatments<\/em><\/strong>-> Options …)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpen Treatment<\/em><\/strong>providers<\/em><\/strong>-> R scripts<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check the Activate<\/em><\/strong> box to\nactivate the option R and for it to appear in\nthe panel Processing . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you have a\n64bits Windows version, you can check\nthe box Use the 64-bit version<\/em><\/strong> . If you\nhave\na\n32-bit post, only the 32-bit version of R is installed\n. If you have a\n64-bit computer, both versions (32 and 64 bits) are installed\n. If you do not check the box you will\nuse the same 32-bit version if your\nPC is a 64 bit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have to configure the\ndirectory with the library R for QGis. This\ndirectory , rlibs<\/em><\/strong> lies in\nC: \/ User \/ your<\/em><\/strong> username<\/em><\/strong> \/.qgis2\/processing<\/em><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

if it does not exist , create\na\nrepertoire\nrscripts<\/em><\/strong> beside rlibs<\/em><\/strong>\nand\nindicate this repertoire in\nAs\nScripts Directory R.<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Point the R directory to the directory installation\n, default C: \\ Program Files \\ R \\\nR-3.3.2<\/em><\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Click OK to close the window Treatments\nOptions. \n\nYou have now\nthe provider R that appears in the processing panel, with\ntwo sub-items: \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first Create new R script<\/em><\/strong>\nopens\nan\nediting window or you\ncan\ntype a Python script. If you have inputs\nto set for execution , this is the moment to do it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second , Get R scripts from on-line scripts\ncollection<\/em><\/strong> , allows you to use Python scripts ready\nto use with the adequate processing windows already\nconfigured . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s see an example\n. You want to carry\nout an histogram R for a field of a\n vector layer . \n\nDouble- click on Get R\nscripts from on-line scripts collection<\/em><\/strong> to open the window Get<\/em><\/strong>scripts<\/em><\/strong>and<\/em><\/strong>models:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOpen item Not<\/em><\/strong>installed<\/em><\/strong> :   \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Search the tool Histogram<\/em><\/strong>\n, check the corresponding box and click\nOK.<\/em><\/strong> \n\nWith version 2.18.2 which I\nuse, the processing window will not update immediately. If you open\nthe window again Get<\/em><\/strong>scripts<\/em><\/strong>and<\/em><\/strong>templates<\/em><\/strong> you\nwill\nsee a new item in Update<\/em><\/strong>available<\/em><\/strong> (in the case of\nthe histogram) or item Installed<\/em><\/strong> .\n \n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhen you close\nthis\nwindow\n, the R processing window in the panel is updated,\nand your new tool is\nnow\navailable\nunder User<\/em><\/strong>R script<\/em><\/strong>-> Histogram<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
